Opportunity Realized on the Burns Funding Equation Podcast
I (Katie Melissa) recently had the opportunity to be interviewed on the Burns Funding Equation podcast, a
program published by successful serial entrepreneur Peter J. Burns, III, founder and CEO of
Burns Funding.
It was quite an honor as Peter has become a leading voice for entrepreneurs as well as a creative
force in the alternative lending space. In fact, it was the latter that led me to reach out to Peter in
the first place. There, he has created various innovative programs, including one in which he
helps clients secure funding through shelf corporations. Then Burns Funding commits to
servicing the loan when the borrower agrees to give Burns Funding a percentage of the capital
rasied through the shelf corporation to invest in its passive investment programs, or what Peter
has called, the Burns Funding Method.
Burns Funding has done considerable research on passive investments. After Peter and I
discussed the work my team and I have done at Elite Automation, Burns Funding embraced us as
a primary target for his clients’ capital.
Peter, who is a regular columnist for Forbes and Entrepreneur, also became fascinated with my

In the interview, I talk about my entrepreneurial journey, which arose from a rich family history
of entrepreneurship. I discuss my early experimentation with e-commerce stores as well as the
advantages and disadvantages of being a young female entrepreneur.
I noted on the show that “being a woman has also helped me build a strong personal brand. It actually makes me stand out
a bit more, especially in the e-commerce space. I’ve put in years of effort growing my Instagram,
connecting with like-minded entrepreneurs, travelers, people who are chasing their dreams. So,
while it comes with challenges, it also opens a lot of doors, especially when you’re aligned with
the right people.”
